Client Accountant

My client, a leading financial services provider with offices in Gibraltar, are seeking an experienced and qualified individual to join their Client Accounting team. The role is primarily client-facing and involves managing a portfolio of key clients, overseeing the preparation of accounts and tax filings, and leading a small team. The successful candidate will report directly to the Senior Manager and play a key role in maintaining high technical standards, meeting deadlines, and supporting the development of junior staff.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Manage a portfolio of corporate and trust clients, acting as a primary contact and maintaining strong client relationships.
• Prepare and review statutory financial statements and management accounts for client entities.
• Prepare and review tax computations and tax returns, including Gibraltar corporation tax and dividend returns.
• Ensure all client deliverables are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
• Respond to client queries in a clear and professional manner, providing practical and commercially focused advice where appropriate.
• Liaise with auditors, tax authorities, and other professional advisers as required.

Team Management & Review
• Manage, supervise, and support a team of approximately 4–5 team members.
• Review work prepared by team members, providing clear feedback and ensuring quality and consistency across client files.
• Provide on-the-job training and day-to-day technical guidance to support staff development.
• Assist with workload planning, task allocation, and ensuring deadlines are met across the team.
• Escalate issues to the Senior Manager where appropriate and contribute to resolving operational or technical challenges.

Administration & Process
• Oversee day-to-day administrative matters within the client accounting team, including workflow management and internal reporting.
• Ensure client files, records, and documentation are maintained in line with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of internal processes, templates, and controls.
• Support the Senior Manager with reporting, resourcing matters, and ad-hoc projects as required.

Requirement for the role:
Essential
• Professionally qualified accountant (ACCA or equivalent).
• Several years’ post-qualification experience in a client-facing accounting role, ideally within professional services or corporate services.
• Strong technical accounting and tax knowledge, with the ability to prepare and review accounts and tax computations independently.
• Proven experience managing, reviewing, and developing junior team members.
• Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of accuracy.
• Strong communication skills, with confidence dealing directly with clients and internal stakeholders.
• Ability to work flexibly and perform effectively under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Well organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.

Desirable
• Experience working with multi-entity or international client structures.
• Familiarity with Viewpoint or similar accounting systems.
• Prior experience in audit or working closely with external auditors.
