Senior Project Manager (Construction)
OVERVIEW
My client is currently developing a large-scale civil and industrial construction complex in Gibraltar, which includes high-rise buildings constructed on reclaimed land from the sea. The project aims to become a modern urban area that integrates international standards for engineering and environmental sustainability.
We are seeking international candidates with deep expertise in delivering construction projects in coastal areas or on soft ground, particularly those involving marine infrastructure, reclaimed land, or portside developments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee all stages of the project lifecycle: design, permitting, construction, commissioning, and handover.
Develop implementation plans and manage project timelines, budgets, quality standards, and occupational safety across the entire project.
Coordinate with design consultants, geotechnical engineers, hydrographic surveyors, contractors, and other relevant stakeholders.
Supervise and ensure that all construction activities on reclaimed land (e.g., piling, foundation reinforcement, ground stabilization) comply with international technical standards.
Liaise with Gibraltar’s regulatory authorities to ensure full compliance with local building codes, marine safety, and legal requirements.
Identify and manage risks associated with coastal construction (e.g., strong winds, saltwater corrosion, subsidence, tidal effects, and environmental constraints).
Administer FIDIC-based contracts, handle change orders, variation claims, and dispute resolution.
Build and lead a high-performing project team and promote a transparent, results-driven work culture.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS
Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Construction, or related field.
University degree (Master’s preferred) in Civil Engineering, Marine Construction, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Project Director or equivalent role in large-scale civil infrastructure projects.
Strong preference for candidates with a track record in land reclamation, coastal development, construction on soft soils, or seaport/logistics zone infrastructure.
Hands-on experience with FIDIC contracts, Eurocode standards, marine environmental regulations, and international HSE practices.
Full professional proficiency in English (required); knowledge of Spanish or French is a plus.
Willingness and ability to reside and work in Gibraltar on a long-term basis.
