Assistant Manager - Client Accounting
The successful candidate will have a sound understanding of accounting principles and financial statement preparation, excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple client deadlines. They will take ownership of their client portfolio, deliver a high standard of client service, identify and resolve technical issues where appropriate, and contribute to the development of junior
colleagues. This role is ideally suited to an individual looking to take the next step in their career by developing their leadership skills while continuing to build their technical accounting expertise.
Key Duties:
• Process accounting transactions, journal entries and reconciliations, maintaining accounting records for a portfolio of clients
• Prepare statutory accounts in accordance with applicable accounting standards and law
• Prepare Gibraltar tax computations and tax returns for submission to the Gibraltar Tax Office
• Act as primary day to day contact for a portfolio of clients, responding to queries in a professional and timely manner and building strong, long-term client relationships
• Assist with the preparation, processing and review of client payrolls, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements
• Monitor client deadlines and ensure the timely delivery of accounts, tax returns, payroll and other client deliverables
• Coach and mentor junior team members, assisting with their technical development and acting as a point of reference for day-to-day queries.
• Support the management team with the planning, prioritisation and allocation of work across the team to ensure deadlines are met
• Identify technical, accounting or compliance issues and escalate matters to the management team where appropriate
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of departmental processes, systems and working practices to enhance efficiency and client service
• Ensure all work is completed in accordance with internal policies, professional standards and regulatory requirements
• Undertake any other duties appropriate to the role as reasonably required by the management team
Requirement for the role:
Essential
• ACCA part-qualified, or qualified by relevant experience, with a commitment to continuing professional development
• A minimum of 3 years' accounting experience, ideally gained within a professional practice, fiduciary, trust, corporate services or client accounting environment
• Good working knowledge of accounting principles and experience preparing statutory financial statements.
• Experience managing a portfolio of clients and building effective client relationships.
• Experience preparing Gibraltar tax computations and returns, or the ability to develop this knowledge quickly.
• Experience supervising, mentoring or reviewing the work of junior team members would be advantageous.
• Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients and colleagues.
• A proactive, professional and collaborative approach, with the ability to work independently whilst supporting the wider team.
